Matt Heath Leaves for Colchester

May-13-2008 By Autolycus

Matt Heath has moved to Colchester United permanently.

Matt was signed by Dennis Wise in 2007, after a loan spell, but fell out of favour in January 2008. Wise’s successor, Gary McAllister didn’t give him much of a chance before sending him out on loan to the U’s in March.

Despite relegation from the Championship, Colchester have decided to make Matt a permanent fixture at Layer Road and he becomes the first departure from Elland Road this summer.

Matty told BBC Essex,

“It was a pretty easy decision to be honest, having been playing down here for the past couple of weeks whilst on loan. For them to show interest in wanting to sign me made it pretty easy.”

Still pi**ed off about last night!

Couldnt beleive how much room we gave them down the flanks, tracking a player down the wing from 5 yards away ? No challenges ? Chocolate fireguard springs to mind.

On a positive note, the suprise substition of Beckford for Kandol turned out to be a master stroke. kandol soon took control in midfield (where we were severly lacking) and he used his ariel advantage well, which ultimately lead to the desperately needed goal.

On thursday hopefully we will see both Beckford and Kandol with Freedman playing just behing them. Seb Carole should also get a start. Prutton, Johnson and Howson would all benefit from some time on the bench to reflect. Hughes to fill in at left back.

Can we keep a clean sheet against the team with the best home record in league 1 ? I doubt it, so we must set out to score at least 3, going by last nights performance it is unlikely that we will, but not impossible.

The prospect of another season in league 1 sickens me, I hope the players feel the same way and find that little bit extra on thursday.

I’m very happy to say that in my previous comment I was wrong on all counts.
